The Cherokee County School District is celebrating Clark Creek Elementary School STEM Academy earning the prestigious School Bell Award!

The Georgia Association of Elementary School Principals presents the distinguished Award to 10 schools in Georgia each year in recognition of outstanding curriculum and organizational leadership initiatives… this is the eighth time in the last decade that a CCSD school has been honored.

A Cherokee County School District student is nationally ranked for his automotive transportation career skills – the first-ever CCSD student to be named to the top 5!

Cherokee High School rising senior Austin Ledbetter competed at the Skills USA National contest this summer in Louisville and now is ranked No. 5 in the Nation in collision repair technology!  Students who earned gold at their state SkillsUSA competition were invited to the National event to test their hands-on career skills.

Board Briefs: School Board Appoints Social and Emotional Learning Leader, New Principals CCSD leadership changes 7 19 19

The Cherokee County School Board on Thursday, July 18, 2019 appointed a longtime CCSD leader to head up the new Social and Emotional Learning initiative, as well as several resulting Principal changes.  

Dr. Debra Murdock, the former Principal of Cherokee High School and Georgia High School Principal of the Year, who has most recently served as the School Operations’ executive director overseeing middle and high schools, will take on the newly created role focused on developing new ways to better support students’ and employees’ emotional and mental health and well-being.

Cherokee County School District leaders kicked off the new school year with the fourth annual CCSD Leadership Symposium professional development event!

Thanks to the support of community partners, CCSD school and district leaders attended a keynote address on Wednesday at River Ridge High School and will participate in an all-day training workshop next week.

This year’s event was made possible by Presenting Sponsors, Cherokee County Educational Foundation and Northside Hospital Cherokee; and Platinum Sponsors, ABM Industry Groups, Credit Union of Georgia, Goshen Valley and HP.

CCSD’s Office of School Operations presented a training session for CCSD’s School Police Department and Principals. The Cherokee County School District’s 2019-20 school year will begin on Thursday, August 1. 

Each school’s front office will be open daily beginning Monday, July 15; hours are limited, so please call before visiting.

Free Reading Resources Can Stop the 'Summer Slide' books

When children do not read during the summer months, research suggests they may lose up to three months of reading ability. Stop the "summer slide" by taking advantage of free reading resources for students this summer. 

Reminder: Online Registration for New Students Open for 2019-20! registration reminder

Please help us spread the word: online registration for kindergartners and all students who will be new to CCSD for the 2019-20 school year is underway at https://registration.cherokeek12.net/. You can complete the online process in about 15 minutes and set up a time to visit the school and verify your required legal documents.
