Fleet Maintenance Statistics
Fleet Maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of approximately 471 buses, 201 support vehicles, and 30 other pieces of equipment in the Cherokee County School System’s fleet.
Through a proactive and planned computerized PM and inspection schedule, the Cherokee County School System has been able to consistently maintain a mechanical reliability rating of over 99.8%. Our buses travel over 20,000 miles per day to meet a total of over 1,500 daily routes, transporting a combined total of over 54,000 students for morning and afternoon.
We have consistently received very high marks for safety and reliability from our annual Georgia State Patrol and DPS inspections for the past 40 years. We strive to provide safe and reliable transportation for our students by cost effectively managing allocated school system resources of space, time, and budget, managed with our School System Fleet Maintenance computer program.
We are also very proud to have on staff, 8 Master Technicians and other ASE Certified Technicians.
In 2015, the CCSD Transportation Department earned the prestigious National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Blue Seal of Excellence, becoming one of the first school system in the State to achieve this level of certification.
