The Cherokee County School District has published its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, an optional higher level of transparency known as the gold standard in government financial reporting.
Compiled by Chief Financial Officer Kenneth Owen and the Office of Financial Management, the 2022 fiscal year report presents financial records already created by CCSD, including budgets, audits and management reports, in one consolidated publication designed to help the community better understand its school district’s finances. The report is posted, along with numerous other financial and operational records, in the Open CCSD transparency section of CCSD’s website at https://www.cherokeek12.net/Content2/open-ccsd.
Last year, CCSD for the second consecutive year earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Financial Officers Association for its 2021 fiscal year report. The certificate is the highest recognition awarded for governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“The School Board and I greatly appreciate the dedication of Mr. Owen and his staff to complete this advanced reporting for the benefit of our school district and our community as a whole,” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “The report requires significant additional work that demands expertise and diligence. This investment demonstrates our devotion to transparency and the strong stewardship of the financial resources taxpayers entrust to us to educate our community’s children.”
