Elementary School Team Places in Top 10 in National Coding Contest!

A Cherokee County School District team of elementary school students placed in the top 10 in a national computer coding challenge!

The Little River Elementary School "Coding Eagles" team placed ninth in the National Code Rush Challenge.

Sponsored by CodeMonkey, Code Rush is an annual coding competition for third- through eighth-graders in the U.S. and Canada.  In addition to placing in the Top 10 nationwide, the Little River ES team was the highest-scoring team in Georgia.

The team is made up of fourth-graders Braylon Bommersbach, Noah Harrison, Andrew Hill, Kamren Kirklen, Luke Jones, Aiden Montgomery, Juliean Ngo, Emma Rivera and Poppy Vila, and their coach, teacher Samantha Westerlind.

The team will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at the School Board’s May 16 meeting.
