A Cherokee County School District student earned national honors through the 2021-22 National PTA Reflections fine arts contest!
The annual competition offers students in all grades and abilities the opportunity to create original works of art in the categories of dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts. Students can earn recognition at the school, district, state and national levels. This year's theme was “I Will Change The World By... .”
Etowah High School rising sophomore Ryan Weber, who earlier this year was named the overall state winner for the Special Artist – Photography category, advanced this summer to earn a National Award of Merit for his photograph “Dying World.” He is one of only nine honorees from Georgia.
“Congratulations to Ryan for earning national recognition -- we are proud of you!” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said. “The Reflections contest offers an excellent opportunity for students to demonstrate their creativity and dedication to the arts. Thank you to the PTA volunteers who organize this contest, and thank you to our arts teachers for your experienced instruction and for encouraging our students to explore their talents and participate.”
