Six projects by Cherokee County School District students are advancing to the statewide Georgia Social Studies Fair!
Through the annual CCSD Social Studies Fair program, participating students in grades 5-12 research and complete a project individually or as part of a team. Projects can focus on anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science or sociology/psychology. Students present their projects for judging at the district fair, and top scoring projects advance to regionals. Regional winners then advance to the Georgia Council for the Social Studies state fair, which is next month in Kennesaw.
Four CCSD projects for Grades 5-6 are advancing to state:
Adriana Castillo and Kylie Measor, Arnold Mill ES, Political Science, “How do the City of Roswell local taxes impact the safety and well-being of the community?” Their teacher advisor is Jane Morris.
Troy Adkins and Ethan Plumley, Arnold Mill ES, Sociology/Social Psychology, “What is the debate over the use of electric cars?” Their teacher advisor is Jane Morris.
Matthew Gula, Dean Rusk MS, History, “How did the Civilian Conservation Corps play a role in constructing Georgia State Parks?” His teacher advisor is Jacob Pendergraft.
Zoe Holland, E.T. Booth MS, Economics, “What Determines the Price of Gas?” Her teacher advisor is Laura Bilbo.
Two CCSD projects for Grades 7-8 are advancing to state:
Natalie Przybylek and Natalie Rock, Dean Rusk MS, Economics, “Why companies use colors for their logos.” Their teacher advisor is Jacob Pendergraft.
Rohan Pandya, E.T. Booth MS, Political Science, “Is the electoral college fair?” His teacher advisor is Laura Bilbo.
