Mrs. Carrie O'Bryant, principal
I am so excited to be a part of the Clayton team! The students and families of this community are so special to me, and it is my honor to serve them. Our students’ growth and success is my priority.
The love of education runs deeply throughout my family. In fact, many of my family members taught at Clayton Elementary and other schools within our District. My great uncle, LeRoy Tippens, served as the first principal of Clayton. As a child, I was proud to attend our school, and I also completed my student teaching experience here. As you can see, I have many connections to CES!
I joined the Cherokee County School District in 1999. Since then, I have taught all grades and subjects in grades kindergarten through fifth. This experience has proven incredibly valuable to me as I have had the unique opportunity to understand each phase of elementary development.
To ensure I continue to follow best practices and factors impacting elementary education, I have completed several graduate degrees and certifications over the past several years. These include a master’s and specialists’ degree as well as my National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification, Teacher Support Specialist (TSS) Certification, Gifted Endorsement, ESOL Certification, MIE Certification, and Leadership Certification. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate from Valdosta State University.
On a personal note, my husband, Scott, and I married in 1994. He is also a teacher. He teaches at Cherokee High School in the Career Technology Department. We have three amazing children! Our twins, Jake and Josh, were born in 1997. They obtained a Construction Management Degree and work in surveying. Our daughter, Emma, completed our family perfectly in 2004! She attends Cherokee High School. Go Warriors!
Serving Clayton Community is a true honor. I look forward to working with our stakeholders to ensure our students are prepared to pursue their dreams.
