Etowah HS Senior Earns a Perfect ACT Score

Posted On: Friday, September 28, 2018

Victoria Tori Ridgeway

A Cherokee County School District senior has achieved a perfect score on the ACT!

Etowah High School senior Victoria “Tori” Ridgeway earned the top composite score of 36 on the college entrance and placement test – a feat accomplished by, on average, less than one-tenth of 1 percent of students who take the ACT!

Exceptional scores of 36 provide colleges with evidence of student readiness for the academic rigors that lie ahead, according to ACT.  The exam includes English, mathematics, reading and science sections; each section is scored on a scale of 1-36, and the composite score is the average of the four.

“What an accomplishment - congratulations!” Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian V. Hightower said.  “We’re so proud of Tori for her perfect score, and we’re even more impressed that she achieves academic excellence while still being active in her school as a leader, athlete and volunteer.”

Tori serves as senior class co-president and plays three sports at Etowah: basketball (All-Region, Honorable Mention), soccer (All-Region, First Team) and volleyball.  Among her numerous academic honors are the Superintendent’s Key Scholar Award, National Spanish Exam Silver Medal and Academic Award in all three of her sports.

A member of the school’s English, Math and Spanish National Honor Societies and Beta Club, Tori also serves as a student tutor, reads at elementary schools through the Eagle Readers program and volunteers for the Shop With An Eagle charitable project.

Tori will be recognized by the Cherokee County School Board and Superintendent of Schools at a School Board meeting later this fall.
