I am a Mississippi girl born and raised in Petal, Ms. I have two beautiful daughters and 2 wonderful sons-in-law and 3 out of this world grandchildren. I LOVE animals; I have 4 dogs, a cat, some chickens and a Partridge in a Pear Tree. I enjoy my home and love to work outside planting flowers, herbs, veggies, etc. My husband and I also love to travel in our cute little vintage 1983, class C, RV (We call her Ellie and don’t call her “old” or you’ll hurt her feelings…). When we retire we plan to do a lot more traveling all over the U.S.
I began my teaching career in Petal, the school system that I grew up in and attended from First grade to 12th grade. I started my career as a paraprofessional then served as an IEP/Remedial Reading teacher for 7th & 8th grades and then taught 7th grade Career Discovery (Tech. Prep. Program). Then, after five years in the classroom, I helped open the Tech. Prep. Program at Petal High School and served as Special Populations Coordinator. While I served as Special Pops. Coordinator, I received my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and then filled a position as School Counselor. In 2002, I relocated to Cherokee County and served as School Counselor at Woodstock Elementary under Mike Vernor (Principal) and Letitia Cline (Assistant Principal) in that sweet little old school in downtown Woodstock that now serves as Chattahoochee Technical School. I eventually received my EDS in Educational Leadership and became Assistant Principal at Woodstock Elementary School and served there until 2011. In the Fall of 2011, I transferred to Little River Elementary School as Assistant Principal. Now I am looking forward to working with the wonderful staff and Leadership at Free Home Elementary and Clayton Elementary schools.
