What is Title I?
Hasty Elementary Fine Arts Academy is identified as a Title I school as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Title I is designed to support state and local school reform efforts tied to challenging State academic standards in order to reinforce and enhance efforts to improve teaching and learning for students. Title I programs must be based on effective means of improving student achievement and include strategies to support family engagement. All Title I schools must jointly develop with all parents and families a written parent & family engagement plan.

Description of Parent Involvement Plan

What is it? This is a plan that describes how Hasty Elementary Fine Arts Academy will provide opportunities to improve parent engagement to support student learning. Hasty Elementary values the contributions and involvement of parents in order to establish an equal partnership for the common goal of improving student achievement. This plan describes the different ways that Hasty Elementary will support parent engagement and how parents can help plan and participate in activities and events to promote student learning at school and at home.


How is it developed? Hasty Fine Art Academy receives parent feedback during school council meetings and the annual parent revision meeting for the SIP, SWP, PIP, Student/Teacher/Parent Compact held in the spring to revise the plan and other Title I documents for the upcoming school year. We also get feedback through the Title I Parent survey.  Hasty ES also has a suggestion box and welcomes parent input and comments at any time regarding the plan. All parent feedback will be used to revise the plan for next year. The plan is distributed during the parent revision meeting, posted on our school website for parents to view, and hard copies are available. Notices will be given in the Hasty school newsletter regarding the availability of the parent involvement policy. We also distribute an annual survey online and in hard copy to gather parent input and suggestions on the plan and the use of parent involvement funds.


Who is it for? All students participating in the Title I, Part A program, and their families, are encouraged and invited to fully participate in the opportunities described in this plan. Hasty Elementary will provide full opportunity for the participation of parents with limited English, parents with disabilities and parents of migratory children.


Where is it available? The plan will be available on the website, in the front office, Parent Resource Room, and at parent workshops. As a reminder, notices will be included in the Hasty school newsletter. Parents can also retrieve a copy of the plan in the Parent Resource Center.

School Goals

All students will demonstrate knowledge, proficiency, improvement and growth of READING and MATH standards as measured by the district’s universal screener, easyCBM (Reading) and iReady (Math), and to meet or exceed standards on the Georgia Milestones (3rd – 5th grades).


District Assessment Goal

The percentage of students passing Georgia Milestones End of Course (EOC) and End of Grade (EOG) tests will meet or exceed the state average.

Teacher-Parent-Student Compacts

As part of this plan, Hasty Elementary and our families will develop a teacher-parent-student compact, which is an agreement that parents, teachers, and students will develop together that explains how parents and teachers will work together to make sure all our students reach grade-level standards. The compacts will be reviewed and updated annually based on feedback from parents, students and teachers during the annual parent revision meeting, school council meetings, and leadership team meetings.  The teacher-parent-student compacts are kept with the Parent Facilitator files and all parents will receive a copy.

Parental Involvement

Hasty Elementary Arts Academy believes that parent involvement means the participation of parents in regular two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring –


·         That parents play an integral role in assisting their child’s learning;

·         That parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child’s education at school;

·         That parents are full partners in their child’s education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child;

·         The carrying out of other activities as described in this plan.


School Measures to Provide Required Assistance

Hasty Elementary will take the following measures to promote and support parents as an important foundation of the school in order to strengthen the school and reach our school goals. We will –

§  Host a Title I Annual meeting for parents to learn about Title I and their rights.

§  Ensure that all information related to school and parent programs, meetings, and other activities is published in both English and Spanish, posted on the school website and included in the monthly school newsletter for all parents.

§  Conduct staff development 3 times per year on parent involvement practices and effective strategies for staff to communicate and build partnerships with parents.

§  Partner with early education programs to share school information about parent engagement activities that will help prepare parents and their child for kindergarten and improve school transition as well as provide school tours for families.

§  Share information in English and Spanish in the school newsletter and at parent workshops for parents to understand the school’s academic standards and assessments as well as the ways parents can monitor their child’s progress and work with educators.

§  Communicate with all families and the community on a regular basis regarding schoolwide events and activities, such as Newsletters, Flyers, Remind 101, Facebook page, Twitter and school signs (in a language easy to understand).

§  Provide necessary materials for parents at conferences, meetings, and school events to help parents work with their child to improve their child’s achievement.

§  Collaborate with community leaders, business groups, local schools and universities to increase participation and awareness of the school parental involvement plan and activities.

§  Offer parent technology classes and provide resource for parents to work with their child.

§  Offer flexible times for parent meetings and provide child care.

§  Listen and respond to parents’ requests for additional support for parental involvement activities.
