Hi! I am so happy to be leading the Johnston Jaguar family! This is my 23rd year in public education, and I love what I do each day. I am married to my husband, Jason, and we have two sons who attend CCSD schools. Jason and I moved to Georgia from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 2000. We are HUGE Steelers fans and love watching football as a family.
Before moving to Georgia, I taught for one year in a suburb of Pittsburgh. After moving to GA, I taught 3rd grade and 4th grade in Cobb County for seven years. In that time, my husband and I moved from Cobb County to Cherokee County due to the exceptional reputation of the Cherokee County School District. I was hired at Liberty Elementary and taught Kindergarten and first grade there. In 2015, I was appointed as the Assistant Principal at Little River Elementary where I served for three years. I am excited to be the principal at Johnston for the fourth year. Last year was a school year like no other, but we still provided a place for our students to learn and grow! I know this year is going to be even better!
I received my Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Educational Psychology. I earned my Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University in 2005 and graduated Summa Cum Laude. I earned my Gifted Endorsement in 2011 from North GA RESA. I also earned my Specialist Degree from Kennesaw State University in 2017 in Educational Leadership, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Last year, I was hired as an instructor for North GA RESA to teach the Gifted Endorsement to our CCSD educators. I do this in the evenings and thoroughly enjoy instructing CCSD’s teachers! I am also a Microsoft Innovative Educator and love using the newest tech tools in support of our staff and students.
Whether you and your family are returning to Johnston or you are new to Johnston this year, I know this is going to be an excellent year for everyone. One of our main goals at Johnston is to build positive relationships with each other, our students, and their families. We will also continue to provide rigorous curriculum excellence to our students. You will notice some new faces at Johnston this year, and I can assure you that you are going to be amazed by the talent of all our teachers.
Hello! I am delighted to be joining the Johnston Elementary School family as the Assistant Principal this year. I am a Cherokee County resident and even attended Johnston as a student where I met my husband of 20 years. We have two amazing children. One is at Woodstock High School and the other at Woodstock Middle School. I look forward to building relationships as well as supporting teachers and students during this upcoming school year.
I graduated from Sequoyah High School and attended Reinhart College, before transferring to Breanu University to complete my Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduating I began my career in Gwinnett County teaching special education and first grade before moving back home to Cherokee County.
In 2001, I was hired at Bascomb Elementary where I taught for 15 years in multiple grade levels, which included first, second, and third grades. While at Bascomb, I earned my master's degree at Kennesaw State University in Early Childhood Education as well as my Specialist degree in curriculum from Piedmont College. Five years ago, I decided to move to my home school and began a short one-year career at Woodstock Elementary before moving to my most recent role as an Instructional Lead Strategist at Knox STEM Academy. During my four years at Knox, I completed my specialist degree in administration from Berry College. I also currently teach as an adjunct professor at Saint Martin's University.
My return to Johnston fills me with excitement and joy. My goal is for the students to leave with vivid memories and a love of learning that lasts a lifetime.
